What is the YOUCA Action Day?

Thursday 16 October 2025 is YOUCA Action Day. On that day, students will not go to school for one day. They go to work somewhere. The pay they earn that day (€60) goes to some strong youth projects worldwide. This is how our pupils contribute to a more just and sustainable world.

With the YOUCA Action Day, we create a unique learning experience for your child(ren). They get the chance to apply for a real job already, can test their study choice and get a taste of real work life for one day. The YOUCA Action Day is a unique opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at organisations, companies and authorities. Your child can completely decide which job they want to do!

The YOUCA Action Day is a learning opportunity. At school, participants get support to look for a job and receive tips & tricks around applying for a job. Pupils successfully go job hunting in three ways:

  1. By using their network, and yours!
  2. Contacting employers directly: by phone, e-mail or by visiting them
  3. Through the YOUCA job bank .

Is my child insured?

Hopefully, of course, we won't need these. If something does go wrong, your child is insured through the school's accident policy. YOUCA also provides additional insurance for damage to equipment entrusted to pupils.

Can I post a job myself?

Of course! For this, register on the job board as an employer. The most important info is on the job flyer and for additional explanation you can get started with the employer brochure.

How can I support my child?

You can support your child by helping look for their interests or explore your network and see if anyone is doing an interesting job there. The rule at YOUCA is, anything goes! Does your child have an idea? Encourage and brainstorm with them!

Is participation mandatory?

The YOUCA Action Day is an extra-muros activity. This means that school regulations apply. Each school decides what the rules are around compulsory or non-compulsory participation and determines an alternative in case of non-participation.
