Youth Activist Playground: Soaking up inspiration
Playful, rebellious and aimed at loads and loads of young people: let’s take action together for a more sustainable and environmentally conscious economy!
YOUCantoor ( Address: Bloemenhofplein 12, 1000 Brussels)
Free! YOUCA will reimburse you for your train, tram, metro and bus tickets.
Let’s get started on fast fashion!
What is the life cycle of your garment? Are second-hand clothes shops really that different from the big high-street chains? And how are the latest trends and consumer pressure intertwined with climate impact and economic injustice?
During this first theme day, you’ll set out to investigate and unravel the answers for yourself. You’ll engage in discussions with shop managers and an expert on sustainable clothing. Based on your field research, you’ll articulate a clear problem statement that we can tackle together during an activist campaign in May.
Fancy soaking up some inspiration and developing your activist side? Sign up!
Get involved yourself at a pop-up workshop from March onwards
In addition, we’ll also be tackling economic injustice in Galicia, Cordillera and Jardim Gramacho. Through action-oriented workshops on mining and forest fires, we’ll be organising local pop-up events with youth movements and organisations where you, together with a YOUCA colleague, will raise awareness amongst your peers in your neighbourhood and motivate them to join the fight for a more sustainable future!
Don’t panic! We’ll get you fully prepared to be a fun workshop facilitator during the training day on 24 February.
With YAP – the Youth Activist Playground – YOUCA is popping up all over Flanders and Brussels; perhaps even in your neighbourhood?
YAP is our rebellious youth project, a space for and by young people where innovation, experimentation and climate activism come together. Young people get to grips with design thinking and explore economic injustice around the world: from mining that destroys nature to the relentless pressure to consume in the fast fashion industry. Using the knowledge they’ve gained, they put togethertwo brilliant, hands-on workshops and organise anactivist campaign as the icing on the cake. In this way, they inspire anew generation of young climate activists who, just like them, throw themselves wholeheartedly into the fight against injustice and the exploitation of people and the planet!
Would you like YOUCA to pop up in your neighbourhood? Convince the youth worker at your youth group or organisation to get in touch with us!
