What is YOUCA Action Day?

Thursday 15 October 2026 is YOUCA Action Day. On that day, the pupils will not go to school for one day. Instead, they will go out to work. The wages they earn that day (€70) will go towards a number of excellent youth projects around the world. In this way, our pupils contribute to a fairer and more sustainable world.

With YOUCA Action Day, we’re creating a unique learning experience for your child(ren). They’ll have the chance to apply for a job for real, explore their study options and get a taste of the real working world for a day. The YOUCA Action Day is a unique opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at organisations, businesses and government bodies. Your child can decide entirely for themselves which job they want to do!

The YOUCA Action Day is a learning opportunity. At school, participants receive support in looking for a job and are given tips and advice on applying for roles. Pupils can successfully look for a job in three ways:

  1. By making use of their own network – and yours!
  2. By contacting employers directly: by phone, email or by visiting them in person
  3. Via the YOUCA job bank .

Is my child insured?

Hopefully, of course, we won’t need this. If something does go wrong, however, your child is covered by the school’s accident insurance policy. YOUCA also provides additional insurance to cover damage to equipment entrusted to the pupils.

Can I post a job myself?

Of course! To do this, register as an employer on the job board. The key information is set out in the job flyer, and if you’d like further details, you can have a look at the employer’s brochure.

How can I support my child?

You can support your child by helping them explore their interests or by looking through your network to see if anyone there has an interesting job. The rule at YOUCA is: anything goes! Does your child have an idea? Encourage them and join in the brainstorming!

Is participation compulsory?

The YOUCA Action Day is an off-campus activity. This means that the school rules apply. Each school decides on the rules regarding whether or not participation is compulsory and determines an alternative for those who do not take part.
