YOUCA Action Day for teachers
Would you like your school to take part in the YOUCA Action Day? Great! Give your pupils – just like 200 other schools in Flanders and Brussels – the chance to try out their dream job. The wages they earn on that school day will go towards projects run by socially-minded young people worldwide. The next YOUCA Action Day will take place on 15 October 2026.
How can I take part?
Register your school via the job bank for the YOUCA Action Day by 31 May at the latest! You can register a whole year group, a class, a subject stream or a group of pupils. YOUCA provides free resources to help organise the day, such as an educational pack, two job-application lessons and a project film to ensure your pupils are fully prepared. If you’d like, we can even visit your school. You choose which parts of our programme you’d like to use!
Through the YOUCA Action Day, we encourage a sense of civic responsibility amongst our pupils and instil certain values in them. They look for a job that matches their field of study and take this experience into account when making their future choices!
Why take part?
- Your students will develop skills for both the present and the future: drawing up a CV, writing a cover letter, and presenting themselves to an employer.
- You’re offering them a challenging ( first) work experience, an opportunity to help shape their choice of study , try out their future job, or take a look behind the scenes at a unique location.
- You promote active citizenship and foster a sense of solidarity withinyour school. The YOUCA Action Day is a way of contributing to a sustainable and just societythrough hands-on experience.
- Your pupils get the chance to meet peers from other countries. They tell their own stories in class.
- And in this way, you’ll be working towards thelearning outcomes.
In short: by taking part in the YOUCA Action Day, your pupils will engage actively and experientially with exploring the labour market, connect with peers worldwide, and you’ll bring a healthy dose of solidarity to your school!
Support from YOUCA
YOUCA provides extra support both before and during the YOUCA Action Day:
- by giving a presentation at your school where your pupils will learn all about the YOUCA Action Day, their job search, and the project we support. You can give the presentation yourself, or one of our volunteers will visit your school.
- by providing additional teaching materials related tothe project and the year’s theme in the run-up to YOUCA Action Day
- by providing useful tools for pupils and teachers to support you in the job search
- by providing guides for the job bank for pupils, teachers and employers
- by providing a helpdesk from the start of the school year, which can be contacted at: email hidden; JavaScript is required or 0471 80 61 81
- by taking out additional insurance, offered by IC Insurance

The job bank
We are organising the YOUCA Action Day entirely via our job bank. This is a website where pupils can connect with employers. There, they’ll find countless vacancies for one-day jobs: from shop assistant to animal carer, park maintenance, catering, administrative assistant, and more... . On YOUCA Action Day, pupils get to work in all sorts of places.
You must register your school via your teacher profile on the job bank by 31 May at the latest. From 1 September, your pupils can register. They’ll see a database of vacancies and can apply for their favourite job via the job bank. We also encourage pupils to look for jobs outside the job bank. They can do this by reaching out to their network or byapplying spontaneously totheir dream company.
As a teacher, you can monitor what your pupils are doing on the job bank at any time. You can see how often and for which jobs they are applying, and you can read their cover letters. You’ll always be fully up to date. YOUCA handles all the administration and financial follow-up via the job bank. So, as a teacher, you don’t have to worry about any of this!
