Young entrepreneurship
In 2019, YOUCA joined hands with Triasand their Guinean partner Jeunes Solidairesm with the aimof tackling youth unemployment in Guinea.
The challenge
Many Guinean youths cannot read and write, and many jobs are only open to men over 35 years old. This makes it very complicated for young people, especially girls, to find a job.
Learning a technical profession or setting up their own small business can be an effective way for young people to still earn a livable income. However, there are many obstacles that also make this difficult, such as a lack of proper vocational training or own budget and the necessary knowledge to start a business. In addition, young people's needs and ideas are little listened to, and it is very difficult for them to take out a small loan to invest in their future.
The approach
To help young people in Guinea overcome these obstacles, Trias and Jeunes Solidaires got to work by offering training to start-ups and existing young entrepreneurs, offering them coaching and follow-up through an entrepreneurial desk, and organising a competition where young people could pitch their business ideas. Trias also gave support to Jeunes Solidaires in strengthening their platform in terms of communication, planning, leadership, financial health and political lobbying. Finally, the organisations set out to improve youth inclusion by providing support to the microfinance institute Fasef and to two organisations active in rural areas: Fuproriz and Coprakam.

Educational package
To deepen and make the YOUCA Action Day live broadly at school, we developed a curriculum together with Trias around Guinea, youth unemployment and entrepreneurship. The lessons are suitable for different subjects, making the YOUCA Action Day a school-wide concept.
