Integrity & inclusion

YOUCA believes in the power of young people worldwide. We bring together young people in all their diversity, from all over the world. It is in these contacts between young people, our team and others that situations may arise where unwanted boundaries are crossed. As an organisation, we always want to guard the physical and mental safety of all young people with whom we come into contact.

Our promises

LOW-DEMPELY
All activities are open to everyone, regardless of their background or abilities. This means we ensure simple and understandable registration procedures, free participation fees and a welcoming environment where every young person feels welcome.

FOR AND BY YOUNG PEOPLE
Young people are always at the heart of everything we do. We listen to their ideas, needs and wishes, and actively involve them in designing and implementing our initiatives. By doing so, we guarantee that our offer connects with their world and interests, and we strengthen their involvement and ownership.

POSITIVE IMPACT
To make a positive contribution to young people's personal development and to society as a whole, our activities should focus on fostering creativity, self-confidence and social responsibility. We support young people to actively contribute to a more sustainable and just world through impactful actions. Which may be celebrated.

SUFFICIENTLY CHALLENGING
In everything we do, we ensure there is a sufficiently challenging offer so that young people have the opportunity to challenge themselves and grow at any time. It's about developing new skills, pushing boundaries and letting them discover their potential . In doing so, we ensure a good balance between learning, knowing and doing with concrete impact in the field, while also leaving enough room for fun and satisfaction.

Our integrity policy

YOUCA wants to create a safer space be. With an integrity policy , we provide a clear framework to create a safe environment always and everywhere. YOUCA's integrity policy is a collection of actions to protect the physical, mental and sexual integrity of young people. Everyone who comes into contact with YOUCA in one way or another respects boundaries, safeguards well-being, and ensures the safety of our young people. After all, integrity is about learning to set boundaries, put well-being first and create safety. You can read the latest version of our integrity policy here.

At YOUCA, we do not tolerate any form of transgressive behaviour. Any young person who feels that a boundary or boundaries are crossed in some way can contact one of our integrity contact points (API) so that we as an organisation can respond and support appropriately.

Do you have a question about integrity? Do you want to report cross-border behaviour at YOUCA? You can contact API Siham Machkour (responsible youth participation) or API Femke Dreezen (board member) at email hidden; JavaScript is required.

Discrimination hotline

People from migrant backgrounds find it harder to find jobs. LGBTQIA+ individuals regularly face violence. Sexism permeates public spaces. Discrimination in all its forms is unfortunately part of our society.

The YOUCA Action Day is also not unconnected to this social reality. Research has shown that on our job board, as in the real job market, young people with names that sound non-Western have a harder time finding a job. We want to do something about that. Every young person regardless of skin colour, religion, gender or sexual orientation is welcome to join us in building a more social and sustainable society.

To take steps towards a YOUCA Action Day free of discrimination, we are setting up a discrimination hotline. Young people, teachers and employers who face discrimination during their job application, during the working day or in the aftermath can come here with their complaint. Based on their wishes and the info they provide, that complaint will be followed up further.

I want to make a report

Unfortunately, our hotline is not yet available in French or English. Would you like to file a report but can't speak Dutch. Then send an e-mail with your story to email hidden; JavaScript is required.
